Impact

GenTORE will have an immediate impact at farm level, specifically on resilience and efficiency of European beef and dairy cattle. This is done by translating innovative breeding opportunities into practical solutions at farm level. Applying innovative breeding technologies and management support tools will create new market opportunities. This will strengthen competitiveness and growth, but also reduce the environmental impact of livestock farming. Meanwhile, it will engage with wider societal benefits through comprehensive dissemination of messages of improved welfare and health supporting positive consumer perceptions.

GenTORE Tools

The tools developed by GenTORE will be practical and applicable across multiple cattle breeds (beef, milk and dual purpose) and systems (conventional and organic). They will help increase the economic, environmental and social sustainability of European cattle production systems. All tools will be tested in applied conditions. Techniques will include:

  • Improved methods for genomic analysis
  • New indicators for on-farm phenotyping and related data analytic tools
  • New ways to measure local production environments
  • On-farm management index
GenTORE Policy Brief and Fact Sheet

The impact of the GenTORE project are explained in detail in its policy brief and fact sheet (in 5 languages)!
GenTORE Knowledge and Technology

Knowledge and technology that is gained from the GenTORE project will be applicable for the following end users:

  • Bovine breeding sector
  • Farm managers (farmers)
  • Researchers/scientists from academic and industrial sectors
  • Nutritionists/feed industry
  • Technology companies
  • Extension workers/farm system advisors
  • Veterinarians

GenTORE Stakeholder Platform

External stakeholders will be involved from the start of the project, representing farm managers, the breeding industry, farm technology developers, veterinary services, farm system advisors and scientists.

They are involved in all stages of the project innovation, from tool design through dissemination. By creating links between GenTORE partners and stakeholders, GenTORE ensures a lasting dissemination and application of the project results.
