GenTORE will improve the ability of the European beef and dairy cattle livestock sector to become more resilient and efficient by translating innovative breeding opportunities into practical solutions at farm level.
GenTORE therefore delivers impacts from the farm level up, enhancing innovation capacity through applied breeding technologies and management support tools, and thus creating new market opportunities.
These will strengthen competitiveness and growth, reduce the environmental impact of livestock farming, while engaging with wider societal benefits through comprehensive dissemination of messages of improved welfare and health supporting positive consumer perceptions.
Innovative genome-enabled selection and management tools will be developed by the GenTORE consortium in order to optimize cattle resilience and efficiency (R&E) in varying and changing environments.
These tools, incorporating both genetic and non-genetic variables, will be applicable across the full range of systems (beef, milk and mixed), and will thereby increase the economic, environmental
and social sustainability of European cattle meat and milk production systems.
GenTORE Knowledge and technology
Knowledge and technology that is gained from the GenTORE project will be applicable for the following end users:
GenTORE Stakeholder Platform
External stakeholders will be involved from the start of the project, representing farm managers, the breeding industry, farm technology developers, veterinary services, farm system advisors and scientists.
They are involved in all stages of the project innovation, from tool design through dissemination. By creating links between GenTORE partners and stakeholders, GenTORE ensures a lasting dissemination and application of the project results.
